I want to acknowledge a woman that God introduced me to through caring for her son. She modeled strength, courage and faith beautifully to me and those around her.
You see, her son had been diagnosed with a rare disease with no known cure. I had met him at a church service and committed to praying for him and encouraging him until the Lord released me. Little did I know, that journey would last 4 1/2 years.
I had no idea that this encounter was for so much more than I could imagine.
She taught me that through knowing Jesus, there's no deep sorrow when facing incredible odds, that there's always hope, and there really is a peace that surpasses all understanding.
What this woman taught me is really the foundation of my faith lived out in the flesh. For those who believe in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, there is the promise of healing. -that healing may come within this earthly existence or in Heaven, where we are free from the shackles of sickness and disease.
Now, as I think back on those days, visiting her son and sharing life with her during my visits, I know why God had brought her on my path.
My daughter, Taylor, has been diagnosed with a rare, fast growing cancer these past few weeks. This type of cancer is so rare that there's no medical journals written on how to treat it.
Now I'm the mother who's time it is to model strength, courage, and faith.
It's my time to tell you all that through knowing Jesus, there's no deep sorrow when facing incredible odds, that there's always hope, and there really is a peace that surpasses all understanding.

And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

If you don't know Jesus, or haven't asked him to be your Lord in your life, then I hope I've encouraged you today. I couldn't make it through this process without Jesus leading me every step of the way.
If you're ready to take that next step, to become a follower of Christ, then simply talk to him and ask him to come in.
You never know when you'll be asked to model strength, courage and faith to those around you. Jesus can help you with that.
